OFFICIAL SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS COMMUNITY STANDARDS

Default

Welcome to Our Official Social Media Pages

We created these spaces to share news, celebrate student and faculty achievements, and connect our campus community. These community standards help keep conversations respectful and relevant. By engaging with our posts, you agree to follow these community standards.

Our social media accounts are actively monitored during normal business hours. We value free expression, civil discourse and welcome a wide range of viewpoints, including critical ones, as long as comments remain civil and on-topic. These community standards apply to all visitors, students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members commenting on official PÕ¾ÊÓƵ social media posts.

The social media pages primarily operate in English. Comments in other languages are welcome, but our team may be limited in its ability to moderate or respond to non-English content.

What We Encourage

  • Stay on topic — Keep comments relevant to the post. Share questions, insights, or experiences that genuinely contribute to the conversation.
  • Be respectful and civil — Disagree with ideas, not people. Constructive criticism of The River and its policies is welcome when expressed respectfully.
  • Share your perspective — Varying viewpoints strengthen our community. Students, alumni, staff, and community members are all welcome to engage.
  • Ask questions — Our social media team monitors comments and will do their best to answer questions or direct you to the right resource.
  • Report concerns — If you see a comment that violates these community standards, use the platform’s “Reportâ€ feature or email MMB@irsc.edu.

Messaging & Communication

Comments & DM Monitoring

Comments on this page and direct messages (DMs) are monitored by the PÕ¾ÊÓƵ Media, Marketing & Brand Office (MMB) during normal operating hours, Monday–Friday. We strive to respond within one business day.

What DMs Are — and Aren’t — For

Direct messages are appropriate for general questions, feedback, or requests for guidance. They are not the appropriate channel for official complaints, public records requests, Title IX concerns, or other formal institutional matters. For those, please use the proper institutional channels listed under “Related Policies & Resourcesâ€ below.

Tagging & Mentions

Tagging or mentioning the college’s accounts in a post or comment does not guarantee a repost, response, or official acknowledgment from the college. Our team reviews tags as time permits.

Campus Safety & Emergency Information

In the event of a campus emergency, do not rely on these social media pages for real-time updates. Social media comments are not monitored 24/7. Do not report emergencies through comments or DMs. Always follow official college communications channels, alert notifications, and PÕ¾ÊÓƵ Campus Safety for emergency guidance.
