CHILD CARE TRAINING PROGRAM

Early childhood education

PÕ¾ÊÓÆµ provides Online DCF-required Child Care Training and the State Mandated 45 Hour Introductory Training. We also provide In-Person Competency Exams for anyone who is currently or planning to be an educator with children ages birth to 5 years (before entering kindergarten).

Child care personnel must begin training within the first 90 days of employment in the child care industry by:

  • Starting a Part I or Part II course
  • Passing each child care competency exam
  • Earning an educational exemption

Earn DCF Credentials

FCCPC/CDA

PÕ¾ÊÓÆµâ€™s FCCPC/CDA program provides a fast track to quickly earn your CDA credential. For more information, please email us at: ddimovsk@irsc.eduÌý´Ç°ù scullinan1@irsc.edu.

Staff Credential

You can earn your Staff Credential even if you don’t have a degree in early childhood education. It’s simple! All you need is to complete two credit courses in Early Childhood from The River that start with EEC or CHD, for a total of 6 credits. More information .

Director Credential

To obtain your Level 1 Director’s Credential, you need a high school diploma, 45 hours of mandatory training, a Special Needs course offered on the DCF website for free, 480 hours of experience working with children, an active FCCPC, and completion of PÕ¾ÊÓÆµâ€™s credit course CHD2800(DCF-approved course).
